| 1. Hard, wear resistant sealing surfaces applied in-house. The sealing surface is the heart of the valve. A small leak will turn into a large leak and eventually lead to costly repairs. Copeland believes that attention to this area is as important as any other. We do not leave coatings up to a third party company. We do not engineer our valves in one country and have it coated in another. We do it ourselves and we do it right. 2. A one-piece stem This may seem like a small thing, however, two piece stems reduce the ability of the stem to perform its function: to precisely turn the ball in the open or closed position. By introducing a connection, that need not exist, the ball either opens or closes less accurately. Thus, the ball cannot be relied upon to seal in the same place every time and with the same degree of accuracy. This can lead to erosion of the leading edge of the ball, leakage and a shortened life. At Copeland, we want our customers to have products that last. It is not our philosophy to base our business on selling replacement parts for poor designs but to increase our status as a manufacturer that makes quality products: simple, functional, cost effective quality products. 3. A simple, rigid design A valve is a machine. Adding extra parts that need not exist increases the chances that something will fail. Copeland builds strong, rigid designs that are meant to last. For example, our stems are designed to provide up to 10 times the strength necessary to actuate the valve under normal conditions. Too big? Not for the guy who finds himself with material in the line that is not normal. He can rely on the Copeland valve and focus on the other problems at hand. 4. Close tolerances This part of our philosophy adds expense to our process. We know it. However, a metal seated valve is like a mechanical watch. It can do its job year after year or fail shortly after the warranty is up. Our customers count on us to look after their best interests and that is why we have many customers that swear by Copeland's standards and commitment to quality. 5. Strong, corrosion resistant materials Copeland does not take shortcuts when selecting materials. You get the material selection that is best for the task at hand. It is as simple as that! 6. Time tested engineering We test our ideas and products before they are shipped. Some companies have built valves, made promises and shipped product without ever having built a valve or the introduced the design feature. We believe in innovation, but our customers will be told, up front, when a valve or valve feature is an unproven experiment. 7. Attention to detail. A metal seated valve has little room for error. You will be purchasing quality from start to finish with Copeland valves. In most cases, our up front cost and the long term cost of ownership will be less. 8. In-house automation. Copeland installs actuators in-house and tests them after installation. All metal seated ball valves have a "sweet spot" where the ball and seat seal the tightest. Leak testing after automation is the only sure way to know that the valve and actuator package is doing what it is supposed to do. |
